I'm Angelica Matthews, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at MIM Therapy PLLC, practicing under the clinical supervision of Dr. Wallace (#8881). I bring warmth, curiosity, cultural humility, and genuine care to every session — whether we meet in my Downtown or North Fort Worth (Alliance) office or connect virtually from wherever you are in Texas.
I am committed to ongoing learning and growth as a clinician so that I can show up fully for every client I serve — regardless of background, identity, or lived experience.
My goal is simple: to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, seen enough to be vulnerable, and empowered enough to change.
I am currently accepting new clients and would love the opportunity to support you on your healing journey.
I work with adults, adolescents, couples, and families across Texas who are ready to heal, grow, and reconnect — with themselves and with the people they love. I offer in-person therapy in Downtown Fort Worth and virtual therapy throughout the state of Texas, making it easier than ever to access affirming, high-quality mental health care wherever you are.
My Clients
My clients are diverse in background, identity, and experience, and I am deeply committed to providing culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and BIPOC affirming care to every person who walks through my door — whether that door is in person or online.
My clients often come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to turn. Many are navigating the aftermath of trauma, struggling in their relationships, or facing a major life change that has left them feeling lost or uncertain. Others are carrying the added weight of systemic stress, racial trauma, identity-based discrimination, or the exhaustion of existing in spaces that were not built with them in mind.
You deserve a therapist who sees all of you — not just the parts that are easy to talk about. You don't have to have it all figured out to start therapy. You just have to be willing to take the first step.
My Approach
I provide trauma-informed, culturally affirming, evidence-based therapy in a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment — both in person and via secure telehealth. I believe that healing looks different for everyone — which is why I draw from multiple proven therapeutic modalities to create a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to your needs, goals, identity, and pace.
I am committed to showing up as an affirming, anti-oppressive therapist who acknowledges the real impact that racism, homophobia, transphobia, and systemic inequality have on mental health and wellbeing. Your cultural background, racial identity, gender identity, and sexual orientation are not left at the door — they are welcomed, honored, and centered in our work together.
My integrative approach includes:
In-Person Therapy in Downtown or North Fort Worth, TX
If you're local to the Fort Worth and DFW metroplex area, I'd love to meet with you in person. My office is conveniently located in Downtown and North Fort Worth (Alliance area), offering a private, welcoming space where you can show up fully and focus entirely on your healing. In-person sessions are available for individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.
Virtual Therapy Across Texas
Can't make it in person — or simply prefer the comfort and convenience of home? I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth therapy to clients throughout Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Lubbock, Amarillo, Waco, and beyond. Online therapy is just as effective as in-person care, and it removes the barriers of distance, transportation, and scheduling that so often keep people from getting the help they need.
Whether you're in a major city or a rural corner of the Lone Star State, you deserve access to affirming, high-quality mental health care — and virtual therapy makes that possible.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Columbia College (Missouri) and a Master of Arts in Psychology from LeTourneau University (Texas). I am currently pursuing doctoral training in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University.
My clinical education includes advanced coursework and supervised training in Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Bowen Family Systems Theory, and Solution-Focused Play Therapy. In addition, I have completed formal certification in the Virginia Satir Model (Experiential Therapy) under the instruction and supervision of recognized leaders in the field.
My clinical experience includes internships at North City Counseling, The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, and Texas Wesleyan University’s Community Counseling Center, where I worked with individuals and families managing anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges.
Professionally, I have served as a Qualified Mental Health Professional at Emergence Health Network MHMR, specializing in bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. I also worked as a Conservatorship Worker and Supervisor at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, supporting families affected by abuse, neglect, mental health, and substance use concerns.
Additionally, I have volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Guardian ad Litem (GAL) advocating for children in foster care and promoting family stability and safety, and as a Madrina at Mana De Norte Texas mentoring adolescent Hispanic Females.
